About Me

Experience

Over forty years of experience as a Jin Shin Jyutsu® practitioner. Studied with the founder of Jin Shin in America, Mary Burmeister. I treat clients from across the world at my private practice in Boulder, CO.

Personal philosophy

My personal style of Jin Shin is gentle and deep. As a writer and artist with experience working with people of diverse backgrounds I understand how chronic health challenges affect creativity, mental health, and relationships. I view this work not just as a health intervention but as a way of living, an art form.

About jin shin

Jin Shin Jyutsu® is an ancient healing art form originating in Japan. The philosophy of Jin Shin stems from the understanding that the body is not a series of parts but a whole ecosystem. When one element of this system is out of balance it affects the whole body, including the mind. Jin Shin works on a series of what we call flows: energy pathways at different levels in the body, each responsible for the healthy functioning of the whole system. Jin Shin does not use needles or body manipulation, it is both gentle and deep. The client rests lying down, usually on a massage table, and the practitioner holds a series of “points” which we call energy locks. These energy locks, if blocked, can contribute to discomfort and disease.

The benefits of Jin Shin have been well established by scientific studies. It has been shown to improve nurses’ mental and physical health through self-help techniques, improve neurological function in people with traumatic brain injury (TBI), strengthen cardiovascular health, and more.
